Obituary of Aurelio A. Scaletti

Aurelio A. Scaletti "Ray", age 87, died on September 8, 2021 in North Carolina where he recently moved. Raised in New Brunswick, NJ, Ray had lived in Pitman since 1974. Ray enlisted in the US Navy in 1953 and served until his retirement in 1973. During this time, Ray graduated from Submarine, Power and Light, Electrical Mates, and Nuclear Power School. Ray served on various submarines and US ships as an Electrician's Mate. In 1970, Ray made Chief Warrant Officer. After the Navy, Ray worked for PSE&G as a Safety Supervisor, retiring in 1993 and received a degree in Fire Science Technology from Camden Co. College. Ray was a longtime member and Trustee for the Pitman United Methodist Church where he and his wife Helen taught the Third Grade Sunday School Class. He worked part time for the Presbyterian Historical Society, Philadelphia for 20 years and volunteered at the Pitman Manor.
Survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen (nee Curren), daughters Cynthia Anne (Douglas) Pownall, Kathie Rae (James) Mack, grandchildren Melissa (Parker) Curtis, Lindsey (Colin) Myers, Megan (Thomas) Cancglin, Christopher (Jael) Mack, Andrew (Allison) Pownall, Nathaniel Mack and 3 great grandchildren.
Friends may greet the family on Saturday, Sept 18, from 9:30-11am in the Pitman United Methodist Church, 758 N. Broadway, Pitman, NJ. Funeral service 11am. Interment Gloucester County Veteran's Cemetery.
