I only knew Don for a short time. I went to only one Eagles game and one meal at Chickie & Pete's before the game with him and my brother. Not like my brother who has many loving and fond memories, of Big Don. My fond memory of Don is how bright & sunny & unseasonably hot that day was & in spite of their lost we had a lot of fun & good conversations. In just short time I knew Don, I knew my brother had a very good friend when he met Don & I know they are hard to come from. I know from my brother, Jimmy Doc & the many stories from their road trips my brother Jimmy has told me, that Don was respected, loved & will be greatly missed by everyone who was fortunate to have crossed paths with Don, no matter how short or long that may have been.
My condolences to everyone in Don's family

My lasting Memories of my good friend Big Don.
I'm sure I'm just one in many who will always remember Don as a good, honest caring human being who always had his hand out. Who never spoke negative about anyone. Don was a good member of AA and knew how to stay sober a day at a time. I know he passed with dignity and respect. Anyone who knew Don knows he loved to drive & was always up for a good road trip. I was fortunate to go on many with him. Chicago, Boston, Washington to name a few, to see all kinds of ball games. We shared a love for sports. Hall of Fame, Baseball, Basketball, Football, even the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. We even took time to see Notre Dames Touchdown Jesus. I probably would not have seen these if it were not for Big Don who drove every mile. Many Hometown games & concerts were we would eat Italian, pizza or Chickie & Pete's, mostly Italian. Don as we know loved a good meal. On the road we hit places like Mike Ditka's & a little Chinese place in Washington right next to the arena that he knew of that was outstanding! We always shared a love for a good meal. Thanks to Big Don I have hats, shirts, music, bobble heads, pictures etc. From our travels I have so many memories we enjoyed together. I thought often how much Don loved his sober life. He wasted little time enjoying it. The entertainment & restaurant industries will miss him when they look at their bottom line. Ha! ha! I don't have to look very far around my house or my heart to have the very best memories of my friend Big Don. Having him as a friend made me a better person. Don also mentioned his family with much love, as I knew how he cared for his mother, sister and brother. While May 2nd was a sad day he is home with his higher power which he choose to call God. Knowing him he wasted little time enjoying heaven. If I would have asked God to make up someone I could call a friend, Big Don would have been him.
To the Hobson family-although this is a sad time. In your mourning be comforted in knowing without a doubt that your Son, your brother is very much loved & will always be loved & never very far from my thoughts. CELEBRATE DON HOBSON!!!!!
Love and respect always Jimmy Doc

Don Hobson was the most kindest, good hearted man. We have had the pleasure of knowing him. Words can't describe how thoughtful he was and everything he did. We will never forget the great times we all had together. We will cherish him always and he will always be in our hearts.

As a dental hygienist, I get the opportunity to meet many people but none were like Donald. He was one of my favorite patients and I will miss our three month chats about rock concerts and good times.
