I knew Jeff about 20 years ago when he handled my insurance at his agency. He always had a smile on his face and was a pleasure to be around. My sympathy goes out to his family.

Our Deepest Sympathy to "Shannon And Brian Owens", Brian Jr. Montana, Lane. We are sorry for the loss of your Dear Brother Jeff and Uncle to your boys. We will "Always Remember" Jeff as a funny, friendly guy who always had a "SMILE" for everyone. There were many kind words spoken about the people he loved and knew. He was an active member of his class and was a very good basketball player in Good ole PHS. He was a good guy.He was so proud of his nephew's athletic achievements and expressed his heartfelt thoughts of nephew Mattie's passing. Jeff will be sadly missed but will be remembered in our hearts. May Peace be with you and your family. Linda, Chris and The Owens Family.

To Patty, Stacey,SHAWN, and "Mickey", the Dargan's who touched my life, I send my heartfelt sympathy. I didn't know Jeff well, but can picture his smile and kindness, even though he didn't know me well either. There probably aren't too many people in Pitman who weren't touched by the Dargan family. It's a household that is remembered fondly by many, I'm sure.To Shawn, I think of you often. I can relate, I'm sorry to say. Love, Lisa

To big Uncle Jeff, it was sure sad to have that ceremony at your grave for you with the rest of the Owens family today and were surely gonna miss you. I'm sure glad I got to talk to you for a while that one day. I was so happy to see that you were one of my biggest fans through out my sports career in high school, cutting out all my pictures and following my success in the papers. I know I made you proud, and I know I will continue to make you proud of me. Not only will I have Mattie and the Granparents watching over me but now I got you too. Don't worry I won't forget about you when I make it big one day. As much as your gonna be missed, I atleast know now Mattie and Teddy have someone to have a catch or shoot some hoops with while both the Mom-moms and Dad-dad sit back and watch!!! Love Ya!

To my brother, Jeff,
We are all so sad! Thanks for always treating the boys so nice. Our last conversation up at Mattie's grave was nice and sincere. We will never forget that conversation and we are doing what we told you we set out to do. Even after all those years the boys found so much humor in your words. The abrupt passing of mom and dad in 98', sadly disrupted the family. Our last few meetings were so nice and Brian Sr. and I were able to put the past behind us. Thank you also for being one of Brian Jr. greatest fans!! We were told by you and many others you were following him in High School sports.
Along with our son Mattie, your nephew, you two can watch over our sons. Love you forever!!!

I haven't seen Jeff in many years, however, there was I time that our paths would cross in a variety of different places--Ocean City, Philadelphia, at a ballgame, etc. Jeff was always smiling, friendly and would ask about my family. We would talk about our HS friends and memories. I always enjoyed talking with Jeff. My deepest sympathy goes out to his children and siblings.

To the Dargan family, Sharon and I are extremely saddened to hear of the loss of Jeff. As a few have alluded to as kids growning up in Pitman we were all close. The Dargan family took us all in and treated us as their own as our families took Jeff. He was a good friend and will be missed.

There was a time when Pitman seemed like such a big town. It had sections which were identified by the names of prominent people, very recognizable names. The Cyrus Ave/Colonial Ave had the Roach, Foster, Jaggard, Ewe, Cramer and of course Dargan's. There was the Cedar ave/Lakeside gang with Roesler, Allen, Rowand, Stafford, Baker, Lauck, Kircher and Kane's. McNeer, Pasqua, Whitley, Pensabene ...were the big names in the Woodbury Road area. The Grove had the Kelly's, Elias/Milward, Kobylinski, Kayser and more. People in the Mid section, like myself, the Yockel's, Lawrence, Harmon, Powell...we hung with the Cyrus/Colonial gang as youngsters and made some lasting friendships. Memorial School brought Jeff and I together in the 2nd grade. That year was so stressful on all involved they seperated us the following year. Me...I went back to the Walls School and their problem of dealing with Jeff and I was over! At least for a few years. I will never forget the tragic news of Teddy when it came to Mrs. Gazou and she had to tell Jeff he'd be going home. Or the news of my Uncle Jim passing, which came while playing in Jeff's back yard. The fond memories are far greater however. The sleep overs at the Dargan house, when it was only six or seven kids! The beds in the girl's room lined up like a scene from the seven dwarfs! Breakfast was 2 boxes of cereal and a gallon of milk, lunch 2 loaves of bread, a jar of peanut butter(a big jar) and a jar of jelly another gallon of milk. Chris with all her Elvis albums, "tomboy" Patty always wanting to get in the game (later one of 3? Dargan Miss Pitman's). Helen, the proud mom who always had a smile and seemed so glad to see the house full. Joe was quick with a joke and beeming with the Dargan pride. Yes, the memories of childhood in the Cyrus/Colonial section are very fond indeed. Life takes some strange turns and we sometimes go off track. I prefer to remember the good times. My own family has dealt with tragedy in recent years. The seemingly perfect family never is perfect and not even the power of God can change that. Jeff had such promise as a young man, he and Renee had three beautiful children together before life took over. I don't feel comfortable thinking of the last several years, nor do I feel proud. But there was a time when I truly loved Jeff Dargan as my best friend. His family and particularly Joe will forever be among my most unforgettable characters. I haven't seen most of them in years but when recounting my feelings to my wife Sue, rattled off all 11 kids names...that's the kind of impact they had on me. In heaven today Joe and Helen are watching Jeff as he walks hand in hand with his little brother Teddy. A family mourns their loss and all who knew Jeff just shake our heads and get an empty feeling. I am sorry Jeff that we never made any sense of your final years. But you made your mark on my life and I will always have fond memories of our youth. Rest in peace Dugan!

Jeff was a very good friend to both Mary and I, and we wish him peace as he passes to his afterlife. Jeff and I shared many fun moments most of it in laughter as we grew up during, and beyond High School here in Pitman. Jeff's family, especially his father was always ready to bring a story that could make your bad day turn into a much brighter one... One story reflected on the meeting of St. Peter at the gates of Heaven. St Peter stated that before you could pass through the gates, you first had to walk a timeline wall, revisting your life... St. Peter handed the new arrival a pencil and said to mark the wall anywhere in life you may have stubbled. After a while the new arrival met a past friend walking back to St. Peter. When asked why he was going back, the friend said simply he needed another pencil...Jeff may need a few pencils also, but as a friend I ask you to ponder how many we may need???... Jeff, Mary and I are both sorry to hear of your passing and have missed your friendship...we hope your meeting now of our maker can make all well. Mary and I know you have now found peace...
