Susan,
I do remember your father "keeping us off our guard" as his student said he did in his classes. When we used to hang out at your house as kids, he used to walk by us sometimes and say the funniest things and keep on going. You, and Cassie, and I would just look at each other with an expression of...where did that come from, and then start laughing hysterically. I think he liked that.

Thanks to everyone who shared their comments about my dad. What a blessing to read how my dad affected your lives. It is important to me to know what an impact my dad had on the lives of others. He must have touched the lives of many people because of his position at the University. I am grateful for having been influenced by his humor, compassion and understanding.

I was graduated from Glassboro State in 1961.
My class of English/History majors was made up of many veterans and about three of us very young girls.
I had Dr.Lloyd for public speaking. He entered through the windows of the original classroom building. (not always, but enough to keep you on your toes) He sat on our desks. This was 1960! The few of us blushed. (He probably did this on purpose) Theater seemed to be his passion.
He got me to write and speak without being embarassed. I just loved his class. As a commuter, with no license and no car, I was not able to participate in many activities. Had I been able, the theater would have been first on my list.
I hope his family was as stimulated to strive to do their best. I hope he was as spontaneous, and kept them "off their guard" as he did us. Dr. Lloyd was a terrific professor.
Thank you, family, for sharing him with students!
By the way, I am way past retirement age but am still teaching high school English.
