Many 4-H memories come to mind with Betty and visits to her home. Now when I return to NJ to visit with my Dad we've often remembered together those times as we drive by your former home on our way into Pitman. Please accept my sympathies, having seen my mother pass on to heaven's rewards this past year, I know the mixed blessing and heartache. Much love and blessing to you all, Phyllis Thomas

Dear Pape family,
My dearest memories of your mother are from my years in 4-H and my friendship with Betty, as a result. I was always warmly welcomed at the Pape home. I think back to Betty & I ballet dancing on the front porch. Can you imagine? Baking cookies in Mother Pape's kitchen and eating ice cream with Betty, Mother Helen, & my mother, Marian Clendining, on the Atlantic City Boardwalk around midnight when Betty & I were in the 4-H Bake-Off.
My most recent connection was when my husband, Fred, and I visited Betty & Mother Helen in Florida this past spring. Betty placed a telephone call to my 89 year old mother in Cape May. They had a surprisingly wonderful conversation. They first met at Underwood Hospital in May of 1943. Betty was born on the 17th, & I was born on the 16th. Interesting that our paths should have crossed so many times through the years!
Much love to you all! Your family has been a real blessing in my life.
