my memory of Joe is how sweet he was to my son. my little guy didn't realize that Joe wasn't feeling well and he accidentally jumped up in Joe's lap and he almost knocked him off his seat. Joe was really sweet to him and did his best to keep Ayden from feeling bad even though it probably had hurt some. Thanks, Joe

Mr. Dougherty,
I'll never forget sitting at the kitchen table in Pitman talking to you about the little things in life that now seem even smaller. You were always very good to me and treated me as your own daughter. I was truly blessed to have you and Marj at my wedding last year, it would not have been the same without you both there....I will miss your great sense of humor and just your presence. Thank you for making an impact in my life, I am forever thankful. I love you and miss you.
Love,
Kelly

Joe was a wonderful man to work with in theatre. Not only did he know and understand all the little details of putting on a production, he had the talent of cutting through the red tape and making it happen. His Summer Theatre Workshop is so popular this year we had to expand the program and the kids keep coming. It's thanks to Joe that the youth of this County are growing up with an understanding and appreciation of LIVE theatre. I will miss you Joe Dougherty. It was my immense pleasure and extreme honor to have known you for 19 years.

My memories of Uncle Joe are of a man with a great sense of humor and also of a person who gave 100% to anything he was invloved with. I remember when Uncle Joe was the head of 2 playgrounds in the area. I felt special that my Uncle was the "Big Guy". He got me my first job. Our Thoughts and Prayers are with You and Your Family. Rest in Peace.

Dear Kim, Steve and Kim's family,
We are truly sorry for your loss. We know that you gave all of your love and energy to help your dad for so long. He's at peace now and looking down at all of you with gratitude. If you should ever need to pray to anyone, let it be him, because he is your new guardian angel.

I got to know and see Joe along his journey through life. And all of us that meet him, or were fortunate to be part of him and his families lives as I am, got to take something from Joe's words. He may have been speaking at a meeting or sitting by the T.V. watching some foreign news channel, and if you wanted you could freely take from his words. As he looked at himself as a man, friend, husband, father, or son he tried to look back, take it inward, reflect, and move forward. And in this journey through life he therefore always gave of himself. Not because of some status or ego, though he had both, but because he was always giving. I know on Tuesday and Wednesday I will see Joe through others eyes. Each will tell a story of how Joe effected their lives and each will be able to carry those memories until we meet again with our friend, son, or father.
Thank you Joe for all that you have shared and all that you have given.

I know that the past few years were tough, but you faught and you taught everyone else how to fight too. I remember when I was little and you and Aunt Marj babysat me all the time, you treated me like one of your own kids and for that I love you. Smile down on us and rest in peace - because now the suffering is over. You are in a better place- say hi to everyone.... always, Chrissy

I will always have good memories of you, Uncle Joe. All the puppet shows and plays you got me involved in as a kid were so very much fun. I'm just so so sorry that we lost touch since my Dad, Aunt Jeannie, Aunt Cass and Grandmom died. My prayers are with you and the rest of the Dougherty family.

Hi Dad,
When I think of my favorite memories of you, I think of the fall weather when you used to rake up leaves in a pile & throw us in them, & every Halloween, you were the face painter. You made the best holiday dinners! So many memories, but, what I will remember the most is that you were ALWAYS there when I needed you & you NEVER said "no" to any of my needs!! I love you Dad & always will!!
