Dr.Sooy was my favorite high school teacher for Algebra I and Algebra II. I met up with him again at Rowan as my Masters graduate advisor. He was my favorite teacher and I am sure he gave me my love for teaching math. He will be greatly missed.

John Sooy was my advisor for my master's thesis at Rowan. He was one of the nicest persons I have ever met. He had a way of always making everyone in
the class feel at ease and comfortable.
I was very sad to hear of his passing.

My Uncle John was a wonderful, loving, caring man. He was always full of joy and laughter, always had a warm hug and kiss for all the family. I can't remember ever seeing him with a straight face - he always had his head tilted back just a bit with a big smile and that infectious laugh. He was a role model for all of us as a hard working, involved professor, a deeply loving father, an affectionate uncle, a supportive and sensitive brother, a husband who was a best friend to his wife and a grandfather who gave both his heart and his wise guidance to his grandchildren. My Uncle John was one of the finest people I have ever known. He will never be forgotten, always deeply loved and sorely missed.
Give Mom Mom, Pop Pop, Uncle Paul, Nelson and Frances our love and save us a place!
God bless you, Uncle John.

Both my parents had Dr. Sooy as a math professor in the 1960's. In 1995 and 1996 I had the pleasure of being a math student of Dr. Sooy. You could see his passion for math and teaching in every class. Besides learning so much from him, I enjoyed every math class.I, along with thousands of other students, was blessed to have Dr. Sooy, and it is sad that others will not sit in his class as I did. I thank him for the knowledge and love of math that he passed on to me.
