My heart & prayers go to the entire family with this sad & sudden loss of a of my co-worker's grandmother. Chrissy & I were sitting in a parking lot while on a 911 call waiting to clear from the call. We were chatting about our families, having lost my grandmother approximately 1 year to the day on that September day. Chrissy recieved the phone call from her sister, I could tell what was being said on the other end of the phone wasn't good news. She always puts on a tough face at work, but this was the first time I saw her this upset in the 3 yrs I've known her. Again, my family prayers touch yours on this day of sorrow. Geraldine DeBartola may you rest in peace in the hands of the lord, Jesus Christ; Amen.

This section is labled "memories," but I know there is not enough room for me to even begin to type the ones that come to mind. You are the strongest woman I knew, and you suffered through this terrible disease to stay with your family for as long as you could- that I admire. You didn't give up until we told you it was ok- For the last 22 years I asked you at Christmas what you wanted and I always got the same answer- "to be with Poppy in heaven" and I would tell you "well, that's not gonna happen so pick something else"- and you never did, so we struggled to find you gifts every year! This year you gave up your Christmas wish and were unselfish (as usual) and gave us our wish- for you to make it through Christmas. I know that was your favorite holiday with Poppy and you really wanted to be with him, but you gave us our last Christmas with you. You left us before the New Year started and a smart friend brought a light to this fact- you wanted us to finish our sorrows in 2007 and begin 2008 fresh and happy- you wanted 2008 to be a year for us. That is so like you. I told you I loved you everyday I talked to you- even before you were sick, so I know you knew that. I remember the day we called you at Jefferson after our ultrasound to tell you that we were having a girl- You said so clearly- "that's what I wanted." My only regret is that she will not know you the way that I do and I pray that I will be able to portray how wonderful you were and would have been to her. She will know your name and your pcitures and I rest comfortably knowing that you are up there to help me raise and protect her- a guardian angel for all of us; so perfectly fitting your personality. I love you and I miss you so much already- but I know you are in a better place- and tell Poppy we said HI and we love him.
