Obituary of Walton T. Ashton

Walton T. Ashton, Jr., age 81 died on March 6, 2015. Walton moved to Pitman in 1961 and has lived in Mantua since 2003. He served in the US Army from 1952-1954 during the Korean War. Walton began working as a Mechanic for the Borough of Pitman in 1974, retiring after 25 years in 1999. He was the Assistant and Scout Master for Troop #55 Pitman, Assistant Scout Master for Troop #68 National Park and also an advisor for troop #17 Gibbstown. Walton also was Camp Director for Camp Roosevelt. He was a member of Woolwich Fire Co. and Pitman Fire Patrol and was an avid NASCAR Fan.
He is survived by his former wife Brenda M. (nee Mitchell), sons Wayne M., Michael W. Sr (Theresa), grandchildren Michael W. Jr., Zachary M, Kaitlyn M. and Rebecca M. Ashton and sister Margaret Smith.
Friends may greet the family after 9:30 on Thursday in the Kelley Funeral Home, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ. Memorial service will be at 11am. Interment Gloucester County Veteran's Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Camp Roosevelt, 384 Watsons Mill Rd, Elmer, NJ 08318.
