Hello everyone,
I am the third grandchild in the family. My father is the eldest son, Frank, and even though my grandfather was tough on my father and my uncles he was quite a softy to his granddaughters.
All you had to do was give him a kiss on the cheek and a hug and he would melt.
I was blessed that my grandfather was able to let us grow up at the farm with having ice skating parties, bonfires at the lake, fishing, driving motorcycles, and he let us have school activities which had to do with homecoming float building in the barn year after year.
Clarise and I got to experience this through our high school years.
Everyone always says how tough he is, but he was sweet to Clarise and I. He was there for my catholic church sacraments, graduations from high school and my graduation from college in Philadelphia. I remember him complaining about paying so much to park the car because he just wanted to rent the spot for a couple hours, He didn't want to put a down payment on the parking spot. lol! I was his first grandchild that graduated from college. He told me he was proud of me and that I was the start of his other grandchildren to follow. I knew it was a big deal for him to experience, especially with the way he grew up. (He would always say to me that he was a self-taught man, and the only way to get anywhere in life is that you had to do it yourself, do not count on anyone.)
I was blessed he made time to sit and have a conversation with me about the different books I was reading, and classes I was taking in college. He knew I was working two jobs while I was going to college, and he told me to hang in there. He would always have jokes to lighten the mood and I find myself always joking around because of him. Even when times are tough a joke can relieve your stress and enlighten the mood. Thanks, Grandpa, for that lesson.
He always gave me books that he thought were related to my major Interior Design and Architectural Design for me to pick up every time I stopped. I still have the books to this day, and I will cherish them. I did get to experience good memories with grandpop that I will always keep in my heart. When I did visit him, he knew I just came to say to Hi and that I did not want or need anything because he knew I could do it on my own.
Thank you, Grandpa, for bringing my father and my uncles into this world and I hope your next journey is good. Please spend some time with my brother Frank, your grandson, Uncle Michael, and your brothers and sisters in heaven.
There was a lot of people over the years that have been taking care of Grandma and Grandpa Fazzio, and I would like to express my gratitude and say Thank you. May God Bless you always.
Love, Serena Fazzio – Holmes, Harry, Madison, and Harrison
