I've known the Fortney family for over 50 years. I went to school with Merri, Patti & "JW". After graduation I worked for Jim at Sears for several years. He was a great boss and a wonderful dad. He and Mrs. Fortney did so much for the town of Pitman over the years. They will both be missed greatly!

I will cherish not only Jim's presence at the Pitman Garden Club but his help when he owned both gift shops. He always helped me pick out a piece of jewelry for the graduates of the Together Family Support Center. He made it special by engraving their names and the date. He had the best smile that could warm anyone's heart!

“How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”-A.A. Milne. Heartbroken on the unexpected loss of my groundhog catching, gardening guru, wood splitting, neighborhood “Mayor”, and dear friend. Jim Fortney, I will miss you and hope that you rest well, God knows you deserve it. -Betty G.

Patti, Merri and Jim...we are so incredibly sorry for your loss. Your Dad's commitment to our town was unwaivering; he could always be counted on to take the proverbial bull by the horns and get things done. Both Dave and I enjoyed talking with your Dad whenever the opportunity arose. Pitman has lost a truly great man. We hope you can find at least some comfort and peace in all the memories you have of your Dad.
