The Salmons moved to 25 Cedar Ave in May 1950 Don lived right around the corner on Lake Ave. We were both in 4th grade at WCK Walls School. I remember:
1.Spending all our time on Alcyon Lak or in the woods behind Robbins Lumber. We had a nature museum in John Wallace's basement farther
up Lake Ave. At one point we had 48 turtles in a pair of stationary wash tubs. We buried dead animals, then dug up the bones and wired
them up like dinosaurs in a museum, We entered our animal skeletons in the Franklin Institute Science Fair and won a prize.
2. Don's dad, Bud Emery, was the publicist for Alcyon Speedway. We sold programs on Friday nights and picked up soda bottles on
Saturdays.
3. Don's brother Jack went on a canoe trip on Lake Winnipeisaukee in New Hampshire. My dad and I went with Don and his Dad to bring
Jack home. We stayed at a motel across the road from the Old Man in the Mountain. Bacon and eggs in the morning never tasted better
than in the mountains. The Old Man has since fallen down.
4.Our Explorer Post 118 went back to New Hampshire and climbed Mt. Washington. Up and down in one day from Pinkham Notch.
5.Racing plastic stock cars around the buttonwood tree at Walls School.
6. Playing football for PHS. Don played end and was strong on defense. Our senior tear record was 3 wins, 3 losses, 3 ties. No team scored more than 7 points on us. Strong on defense!

Don was my Father's brother... he was the kind of person who cared for plants, people, and although I didn't know him well, when I did see him, I felt he cared for me in those times we were able to gather together. Don brought two amazing girls into the world, who touch lives every day... what an amazing legacy! The world was made better by the tending it received from Don... my father loved and loves him still, and now we carry on caring for the gardens that Don loved; and I know he's watching with pride.

To my cousins Gayle and Jennifer, I send my sincere condolences for your loss. I remember your dad very well, sitting at the big table during dinners that Aunt Elsie used to have for us during our family get togethers. He had a strong but quiet presence. I am sending my prayers and love to you both. Love, Ruthann Couse and family
