Raymond (Remo) Pelaschier was born in Pola, Italy to Valeria (nee Sterpin) and Amleto Pelaschier. He came to America on the USS General Greeley in 1951 with his parents and brother William (Duilio). His family settled in New Jersey and soon made a home in Westville.
Raymond came to this country not speaking a word of English..but graduated from Glassboro State College with Masters degrees in English and American history. While studying there, he met and married his wife, Florence (nee Seeberger).
Raymond and Florence moved to Pitman, where he would spend the rest of his life. He taught at Clayton public schools, then at Rossi Intermediate school in Vineland.
Raymond was a social member of Highland Chemical Fire Company in Pitman for over 40 years. He was always there to help out at fundraising events. His face was a familiar part of the annual Labor day carnival sponsored by his fire company.
Raymond enjoyed nature, was an avid World War two historian, and amateur genealogist. He loved to read, and passed that love to his three daughters.
Raymond was predeceased by his parents Amleto and Valeria, his brother William (Duilio), his niece Linda (Robert) Mihlebach. He is survived by his wife Florence, his daughter Joanne, his daughter Amy (Donald) Trauger and their children Kayla, Nathan, Silas, Faith Valeria, and Maximus Amleto, his daughter Mary (Tomas) Temprosa, as well as many friends.
