Mom-mom, and the home she created, have been the center and heart of our family for many years. As a child she always made me feel special; I loved having tea parties with her, her stories of the 'ghost' moving things around her house when she couldn't find them, climbing the tree in her front yard to read a book, and playing paper dolls with her on the living room floor. Her freezer was always full of water ice and ice cream for us - a special treat! She loved the beach, and the time I spent with her and my cousins down at the shore house every year are some of my favorite memories of my childhood.
Her life centered around her family and faith. Her home was always full of friends and relatives (and music), and countless family celebrations centered there: birthdays, baby showers, wedding showers, anniversaries, and so much more. She was loved by all who met her, as she was a genuinely sweet and kind soul. Those of us who were privileged to know her better, also knew that she had incredible spunk, determination, and a very mischievous side to her. She would make a chicken dance across the kitchen counter (forever scaring my mother), want to clean up from meals well into her 104th year (maybe we wouldn't do it right), and would play the piano with her unique jazzy style late into her 90s.
Every time we left Mom-mom's she would wait at the door to wave goodbye until we drove off down the street. This time, Mom-mom, you're the one driving off and we're all waving goodbye from the door, wishing we had a little more time.
Until we meet again.
Love always,
Amelia

Fifty-six years ago today I moved out of my parents' home in Philadelphia and into the unknown (to me) world of church ministry and the wacky world of the Marshall family who became my family and my world. I am grateful for all the church families and what I learned and experienced. I am glad I married into the Marshall family for the values and the good memories; the laughs and tears. I am especially grateful for the love and valuable lessons and guidance I received from Mom Marshall. She was a shining example of a good Christian, wife, mother, neighbor, and friend. She knew how to tell a story (and she had some wild ones), and she could also gently, lovingly reprimand or encourage. She never complained even when in great pain. Her excellent and jazzy piano playing will be remembered by young and old (those who remember her playing at the Pitman Theatre and for Church affairs). The day Bob told his Mom I agreed to marry him she just wanted to be sure I loved him. I loved him Mom! I loved you! I know you are are having a glad reunion in heaven with all those you loved here on earth!

My heart is heavy as my beautiful dear grandmother, at the incredible age 104, has gone to be with the Lord. MomMom was the heart of our family, ever the gracious hostess whose home was the preferred place for family gatherings filled with love and laughter. She hid toys under the couch to enjoy with the children when they’d visit, played the piano as we sang hymns, told elaborate stories, wrote her own poetry and painted pieces that hang in our homes today. Her favorite color was purple, preferred coffee ice cream, loved the beach and hated raisins...and I do too! My grandmother had a heart for people, always an optimist..extremely patient and rarely angry...an intent listener and wise counselor. She loved Jesus, believed in angels and experienced the power of prayer. Our family was blessed to have her for so long. Her adventurous, kind and precious, although sometimes stubborn and precocious spirit leaves a gaping hole but also gives us a Godly example of how to live and love, accept and experience life to the fullest. Now she is with her loved ones gone before us and with Jesus and is experiencing the abundant life He promised, and I know I will see her again someday...in the garden.

Aunt Bea Marshall, my Nana’s sister-in-law, passed yesterday at the age of 104. Even though we had her for much longer then maybe was expected, it doesn’t mean we aren’t heartbroken to see her go.
At 104 years old, she was part of the greatest generation. She lived through not 1 but 2 world wars, The Great Depression as well as some of the greatest advances in medical and technological history.
She was a classic beauty, always so elegant. She was incredibly bright and undeniably strong. There were few human beings on this earth as sweet as Bea. Her sweet yet mischievous smile, her piano playing, her spunk, her poetry and her unending kindness will be greatly missed.

My grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep 2 nights ago at the age of 104. I was, along with so many, blessed to have her in my life. She was truly such an amazing woman, never saw her even once get angry or frustrated. She loved with all she had, adored all of her “chickens,” and right up until the very end, never wanted to sit and allow others to care for her. I don’t doubt but that anyone who sat in her presence learned about patience, kindness and love for all. She loved animals and kept a box under her couch of realistic snakes and spiders, she’d hold even these and say how cute they were. I’ll miss her sweet voice and the warmth she gave everyone, and I will remain so grateful that I was so lucky to have her as my grandmother. Love from your granddaughter, Jolene
