Mom-mom, and the home she created, have been the center and heart of our family for many years. As a child she always made me feel special; I loved having tea parties with her, her stories of the 'ghost' moving things around her house when she couldn't find them, climbing the tree in her front yard to read a book, and playing paper dolls with her on the living room floor. Her freezer was always full of water ice and ice cream for us - a special treat! She loved the beach, and the time I spent with her and my cousins down at the shore house every year are some of my favorite memories of my childhood.
Her life centered around her family and faith. Her home was always full of friends and relatives (and music), and countless family celebrations centered there: birthdays, baby showers, wedding showers, anniversaries, and so much more. She was loved by all who met her, as she was a genuinely sweet and kind soul. Those of us who were privileged to know her better, also knew that she had incredible spunk, determination, and a very mischievous side to her. She would make a chicken dance across the kitchen counter (forever scaring my mother), want to clean up from meals well into her 104th year (maybe we wouldn't do it right), and would play the piano with her unique jazzy style late into her 90s.
Every time we left Mom-mom's she would wait at the door to wave goodbye until we drove off down the street. This time, Mom-mom, you're the one driving off and we're all waving goodbye from the door, wishing we had a little more time.
