Obituary of Treva M. Posey

Please share a memory of Treva to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Treva Madia Posey (nee O'Keefe), 86, of Glassboro, formerly of Mickleton and Camden, went home to be with the Lord on June 23, 2020, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 3, 1933, in Camden, NJ to Patrick and Treva (Clements) O'Keefe. As an only child, she maintained a lifelong close friendship with Shirley Nieder. She graduated from Camden High School, Class of 1951, and worked for almost 20 years as the Guidance Office Secretary for West Deptford Middle School before retiring. Treva was a devoted mother who passed on her love of reading to her children. She used her grammar skills to edit and type numerous essays, reports, research papers and college applications. Although she did not have the opportunity to attend college herself, she valued education so much that she worked to not only put her sons through college but also all four of her daughters, who would be the first generation of women college graduates in the family. As a mother of six, she had spent 17 years in a row completing college financial aid forms! Treva, a loving grandmother of 12, was affectionately known as "NeeNee", "GeeGee" or "Grandmom" by her grandchildren. She always had a full heart and a full sugar bowl for her "Sweeties", "Sweethearts" and "Sugarplums." She used her seamstress skills to sew many costumes and doll clothes, and altered many school and scout uniforms for her grandchildren through the years. She cooked countless family dinners and hosted many holiday parties, always excited to bring the family together. As her grandchildren grew older, she always encouraged them to follow their dreams. She read their college essays and supported them with phone calls, cards, letters, and spending money to let each grandchild know they were loved no matter how far away they lived. She was excited to welcome her first great-grandson earlier this year, looking forward to warm cuddles and his happy feet kicking away during his visits. She was a longtime member of Evangelical United Methodist Church and their women's group the "Chit Chats". She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Raymond Warren Posey, Sr.; by her six children: Raymond Posey, Jr., Robert Posey, Sharon Morgan, Janis Posey, Patricia Carter (David), Linda Wolfe (Jeff). A loving grandmother of 12: Ray Duer (Blake), Brandan Morgan (Christina), Sarah Duer, Heather Kern (Charles), Kristin Hernley (Kevin), James Duer, Kaitlyn Morgan (Tyler), Lauren Carter, Jennifer Duer, Ryan Wolfe, Kayla Flint (Logan), Michael Wolfe, and great-grandson Colton Robert Hernley. Graveside Funeral Service will be held for friends and family, 11AM on Friday, June 26, 2020, at Manahath Cemetery, 730 N. Main Street, Glassboro, NJ, under the direction of Kelley Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Evangelical United Methodist Church 14 W. Cohawkin Road, PO Box 238, Clarksboro, NJ 08020.
