Obituary of Steven J. Michael

Stephen J. Michael, of Pitman, NJ was carried by Jesus into his eternal home on September 1st after an 18 year battle with Parkinson's. He is survived by his wife Nancy, his daughters Dina Weaver and Lelania (Rob) Wells, grandchildren Edwin, Kristen, Robert, Alycia and Aaron, and his brother David (Ruth).

Steve found joy in praising his Savior with his voice, guitar and other instruments as well as writing music. He sang in churches, choirs, nursing home, the Sounds of Hope and Good Time Gospel Four barbershop quartet. Steve graduated form Pitman High School. He retired from South Jersey Gas Co. in 2005. Steve volunteered with the Jaycees, Gloucester Co. ARC, July 4th Parade, Special Olympics, JCI Senate, Kiwanis and raised funds for Camp Sun 'N Fun. He was selected as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Citizens of NJ in 1981. He won awards from Toastmasters, the National Conference of Christians and Jews, National ARC and earned a black belt in karate.

Friends may greet the family on Saturday, September 14, 2019 after 10am in Joy Community Fellowship Church, 309 Florence Ave, Pitman, NJ 08071. Memorial service will be at 11am.
