BJ drove me home from Hood every holiday weekend. She was a Senior and I was a freshman. Everytime we crossed the Delaware Memorial Bridge she would point and say,"that is where my daddy works." She was a great lady...

I am a member of the WTHS class of 1993. Ms. Schuler was my 7th grade life science and 9th grade biology teacher. She was a fantastic teacher who didn't accept anything but the best from her students. I didn't learn anything in the first two biology courses in college that Ms.Schuler hadn't already taught us.
Today I am an Episcopal priest and a hospital chaplain in New York City. I use my knowledge of the life sciences, much of which I learned in Ms. Schuler's classes, to help me understand my patients' medical conditions as I provide spiritual care to them and their families. Always an advocate for strong, independent women, I think Ms. Schuler would be proud of me today.
My prayers go out to her family, friends, and all the spheres of her life in which she had such a positive impact. May she rest in peace and rise in glory.

My condolences to Ms. Schuler's family and friends. Ms. Schuler was not only my freshman year homeroom and biology teacher but also a passionate teacher who inspired me to pursue science. I ended up majoring in biology in college! Ms. Schuler expressed seeing big potential in me and I carried that with me (still do!) - for that I am forever grateful.

I was fortunate to have Ms. Schuler as a teacher in high school. Her passion for teaching and for biology was inspirational. Her methods of teaching were unique and unforgettable--I recently found the "green notebook" she made us keep during the year to document environmentally friendly things we did each day. But she was more than just a great biology teacher--she was so such a vibrant and genuinely friendly person, who would always ask students about their sports and other extracurricular activities. Akin to her memorable methods of teaching, she will never be forgotten.

Ms. Schuyler was my 9th grade biology teacher back in 1990. I had a hard time adjusting to high school and Ms. Schuler noticed that. I still remember her asking me why iwas so anxious Togo home at the end of the day. She asked me why I did not take advantage of the various extracurricular activities our school had to offer. I told her I was not interested and that I just wanted to go home. She persisted and asked me to stay after school one day to meet another teacher and see if I would like the club that he ran. I agreed. She ended up introducing me to Mr. detox sky and the Geology Club. The rest was history. I ended up becoming an active member in a variety of clubs which made my high school experience rich. Thank you Ms. Schuler for taking that time to help an awkward teenager adjust. Thank you looking beyond the academics. You will be missed. God bless.

We are truly blessed to have had BJ in our lives.
Aunt BJ was a positive role model for my children and a loving part of our family. She was the first person I called when my son was born and she never missed a christening, birthday party, graduation or wedding.
She was there at swim meets, field hockey games, baseball and softball games and always with that grand smile.
We are all lucky to have known her and we will remember her always.

Ms. Schuler leaves a wonderful legacy of service. She was a very inspiring person, and I treasure the years she was my teacher and coach at WTHS. Words cannot fully express how positively she influenced me and still influences me to this day. She was a masterful science teacher, but truly she was a teacher to whom the world was a classroom. The lessons I learned from her -- in school, on the tennis court, and in the few brief, but extremely meaningful pep talks she gave me -- these lessons have often guided me and served me well over the last 20 years. I know I am just one of many for whom this is true. Though I was not the smartest student, or the best athlete, Ms. Schuler believed in me, pushed me, encouraged me to pursue my dreams, and inspired me to do achieve more than I thought possible. She taught me that winning takes preparation, practice, and patience. Years ago, she wrote me a recommendation for OCS. I didn't get in, but I never gave up, and today, pushing 40, I am finally an Officer Candidate. Ms. Schuler was one of a kind, and gives us all an example of a life well lived. I am so grateful for the privilege of having known her.
My deepest sympathies and condolences to her family and loved ones. I pray you find some comfort in hearing from those like myself upon whom she had a profound influence, and who will always remember how wonderful a person Betty Jean truly was.

I first met Ms. Schuler in Freshman Biology where I have fond memories of leaf identification and fruit flies. When BJ joined Pitman Kiwanis, it took me a while to be able to call her BJ but I'm glad that we had many great years of serving together. BJ was always so optimistic and never spoke of her illness. She always stepped up to volunteer at any event we were having and served as President this year. Her heart was always with Pitman and it showed. I'll always remember the good times we had at our fundraisers, meetings, and events and I'll certainly never forget how much she loved playing with our son. BJ, your impact on our club, and our lives, will never be forgotten. Even in retirement, you continued to teach us to live life to the fullest, focus on the positive, and enjoy every moment. We will miss you!!!

I always loved BJ's smile and spirit. We went through school together and enjoyed every school dance. She was energetic and a great dancer! I feel honored to have called her a friend.
I enjoyed seeing her at our little class of '69 reunion at the Bus Stop in Pitman a couple of years ago.
My heart goes out to her loved ones. May you savor the happy memories of the good times to carry you through this difficult time.

She was my sophomore year biology teacher. She taught with a passion for life, and truely lived everyday like it should have been lived. She taught me the importance of focusing on my education, but not only did she teach academics, she gave life lessons. We could all learn something from the legacy that Ms. Schuler engraves into our hearts. She is an inspiration to me and many students, and will be deeply missed. Rest in peace Ms. Schuler, you will forever hold a place dear in my heart.

"Lead by example" : All those who knew BJ surely understand how she gave selfeshly to the community. She expected nothing back, and while she fought cancer; she continued to "give". I hardly knew her: Except she was my wife's bike riding buddy: and I was the "chase car" on their 50 mile fundraising quest! Great times - Great memories!

Thinking of all of you with fond memories of childhood, much time spent in the woods and in the kitchen eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches made by Mrs. Schuler.
