Tuesday morning, when I heard of Bean's passing, a big piece of me died along with him. Bean was my best friend at PHS. I know that later, in his adult life, Bean was a leader in Pitman serving on borough council and many other civic organizations. It should also be remembered that Bean was a leader in our high school class of '65. He was a leader on the athletic field, in football, basketball and baseball. Our senior year we won many tri-county and South Jersey Group I championships, many due to the leadership and athleticism of "The Beaner". He was a talented wide receiver (#80), a formattable power forward on the basketball team and a talented shot putter and pole vaulter on the track team. In all, Bean earned 9 varsity leaders, not many can claim that accomplishment. Bean was also a leader off the athletic field. He was Vice President of our senior class and led the construction of our senior prom theme, transforming the gymnasium into a paradise. Of course, Bean was also one to enjoy a good time and many laughs, and was voted as our Class Clown!
But, to so many, certainly including me, he was the best of friends. Always there to provide to provide support and care when you needed it most. Bean was just "the best", and I know so many of us will dearly miss him.

Beanie was one of a kind. My favorite memory was when he visit his daughter's house in SC. We raised Tennessee fainting goats. One day, the kids were running around in the pasture trying to scare the goats to faint. I sat with him on my porch observing the activity about 100 yards away with a beer and a cigar in each of our hands. Suddenly, one of the kids startled a goat and it fainted in a tripod position. Nose and two front legs. Rear legs pointing straight into the air. Beanie stomped his feet, spilt his beer and dropped his cigar, and roared with the loudest, deepest memory lasting laugh I have ever heard from anyone ever before. Thank you. God bless and Fair winds.

I've known Beanie for 50+ years. He was in our wedding in 1970. He was a good friend and a great ball buster. I'll miss seeing him at the golf course and telling our cigar stories. May he rest in peace.

Four of the best years of my life were spent at Salem University. What made that time special was having Bean as my room mate. I'll always remember Bean as having a smile on his face and anxious for the next adventure.(and we had plenty) Rest in peace my friend, until we meet again.
