The Lisa Family,
I am so sorry to just learn of Tony's death. We were friends during my years at Glassboro State (1968-72). Tony was always a good guy and friend. When I played basketball Tony was the manager/trainer/assistant coach. He did so much for the college. I am sorry for your loss, our loss. My sincere condolences.

I am so sorry for the loss of coach. He was such a kind man. Even though my team was not that good and we were small, he always said hello to me and took time to talk to me about swimming at the Met Conference Championships. He never forgot about the little guys in the sport. We have lost a true gentleman and professional.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Tony was an incredible coach and friend. I first met Tony my junior year at West Point. He was so happy and always took time to personally engage with everyone. His smile was contagious. West Point is a difficult experience for a cadet, but Tony made it easier for me with his positive and compassionate attitude.
I went back to West Point last year and had the opportunity to spend some time with him again. It’s like ten years hadn’t even passed. He was just as compassionate and loving as ever.
I learned a lot from Tony: how to treat people, show empathy, and have meaningful interactions. Everyday he spent on this earth he made it better. I strive to be a better person because of the impact he had on my life.
The entire Lisa family is in my thoughts and prayers. I pray you find peace with his passing knowing the incredible impact he had on so many people. Tony will forever be remembered and missed.

Family of Tony Lisa,
Our deepest condolences to all of you on Tony's passing. As difficult as this time must be you can be comforted in the fact Tony had such a lasting impression on so many. Long ago, Tony became our student teacher at Millville High School and we realized immediately that he was someone very special. His ability to connect with kids and his knowledge of his subject matter was extraordinary. We have had literally hundreds of student teachers over our long career and Tony was #1. There was little doubt he would go on to a very successful career, which he did.
We mourn with you but we also remember him for all of the great virtues and beliefs he demonstrated. We will always remember Tony's impact on us.
May God comfort you.

Tony was wise, kind, creative, likeable, smart, and successful himself, but more importantly inspired these qualities in many others as well. He was unique, a very special and talented person. But I remember him mostly as a great guy and a wonderful father to Bryan and Suzanne. No matter how busy he became, he always had time for a smile or a warm handshake for me and others who came into his world, always inclusive and considerate. Every bit a class act, but never pretentious or elitist, Tony had the knack of helping you find your own way, using your own strengths - the kind of lessons with value for life. We miss him terribly, but we also honor the wonderful gift of his life and all the things he discovered and shared with us.

Dear family of Tony Lisa,
My sincerest condolences on the passing of Tony.
For several years in the 1970s and 80s, I had the pleasure of interacting with Tony as a sportswriter and sports information director at (then) Glassboro State College. Although we primarily talked “business” about the swim team or soccer team, the kind and compassionate spirit Tony possessed always came through in our talks. He was the epitome of what a coach should represent.
Although this is a time of much sadness, I am certain, in time, that the many wonderful memories you have of Tony will once again bring a twinkle to your eye, and a smile to your lips, every time you think of him.
Best regards,
Bryant Heisinger

His passion and love of coaching the sport of swimming made you as a parent want to step your own game up! He was even supportive of their other sports and truly cared to hear all about their current endeavors. We first met Tony at a tricounty dual meet in which our son with Down syndrome was swimming on an unofficial 15 to 18 year-old relay for Green Fields Swim Club. Michael was the anchor, and he did his best, but finished last. Tony held up the meet to greet Michael with a congratulatory hand shake. What a touching moment for Mike and us. Tony didn't know Mike, but made him feel so important with his kind gesture. Several years later Tony became a volunteer coach for Mike's Special Olympics swim team, and we recalled that moment. He was an outstanding coach for the SPARCS team. How someone treats a person with a disability says volumes about his character. Tony will be greatly missed.
