Melissa, Deborah and family:
I find it difficult to express condolences for someone who was as well loved as your Mom and Sister. Memories of the time shared with Michelle flood back. I assure you those memories are all good. Michelle was kind, smart, compassionate, and altogether A person I considered my good fortune to know and work alongside. She hired this old guy to help out at the shoe post. But I was the one who was helped. I. Worked for her while I was going through Grad School to certify me for a second career in education. She not only paid a fair wage. She made certain that members of my family always had quality foot wear. Whenever Diana or our kids needed shoes she would tell me ”get what you need and I’ll just take the cost out of your pay envelope” . From the day I started ’til the day she closed the store for the last time she never, never deducted a dime from my pay. When I’d ask her about it she would say, I’ll get around to it sometime. But she never once did. Not only was she kind, her generosity made certain that any of us who worked there never paid for takeout food she ordered. All that was just a part of her nature. My best single memory of your mom was on a saturday morning when she cranked up the radio and danced to Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band’s ”I love that old time rock and roll”. She dearly loved that song and it was fun watching her enjoy it! I have worked for a number of bosses in my adult life, but there is not a single one I liked more than Michelle.
That’s how I will keep her memory. Kind, compassionate, generous and fun to be around. To know her was my and many others great good fortune. I will hold her memory close for as long as I’m on this earth. I’ll fondly remember her when I play or hear Bob Seger. God bless. John Pete Parks
