Obituary of Deborah Mildred Hofmann

Deborah Mildred "Millie" Hofmann, 98, of Richwood, died peacefully in her sleep on November 13. Mrs. Hofmann was born in Bridgeton to John B. and Alberta (Sloan) Sheppard on Christmas Day, 1918, and grew up in the Elmer area. She graduated Bridgeton High School in 1936, and worked at Seabrook Farms for several years before meeting and marrying the love of her life, Alexander G. Hofmann, in 1950. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Elmer. She was also very active in Echo Rebekah Lodge in Centerton, and held several positions in the state Rebekah organization, including a term as president in the 1980s. She was an accomplished seamstress and artist and enjoyed china painting well into her 90s. She was predeceased by her husband of nearly 64 years, Alex, in 2014, as well as by her parents and sister Nona. Mrs. Hofmann is survived by her children Mark (Laurie) of North Potomac, Md., and Margaret (Michael) Wint of Grand Rapids, Mich., grandchildren Heidi Wint of Richwood, Timothy Wint of Texarkana, Ark., and Sarah Hofmann of Austin, Texas, and her great-grandson Dominic Alexander Wint. Friends may greet the family on Friday after 9am in the Kelley Funeral Home, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ 08071. Funeral service will be at 11am. Interment Richwood Cemetery.
