Francis J. Johnston, age 89 died on June 25, 2017 at the United Methodist Communities Pitman, NJ. He enjoyed living at UMC for the past two years where he wrote his memoirs. He lived in the Pitman and Glassboro area since 1967. Frank was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia. He came to the United States in 1967 to work as a Chemical Engineer for Mobil Oil Research and Development, Paulsboro, NJ. Frank retired from Mobil in 1982. After retirement, Frank and his wife Jeanne enjoyed traveling back and forth to Australia where they would live a few months a year. Frank was a member of the Wise Men a YMCA chapter, the Lay Fraternities of St Dominic, and Mary, Mother of Mercy Parish. In Australia, he was a member of Teams of Our Lady, an international Catholic movement for Christian married couples.
Frank loved music, camping, sailing, traveling, Formula 1, and riding motorcycles.
He was predeceased in January by his wife of 67 years Jeanne C. (nee McKenna). Survived by his children Peter, Patrice Sheehan, David, Christopher, Vincent, Gregory and Alan, 18 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and sister Maureen Trezise.
Funeral mass will be on Thursday at 10:30am in Mary, Mother of Mercy Parish (Our Lady Queen of Peace Church), 161 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ. Interment Manahath Cemetery.
