I only just found out about dear Axel's passing. He was a longtime and wonderful customer of Merritt's House of Flowers in Pitman, NJ, where I was the floral designer and manager. He was a vibrant, kind, and generous person whose visits would brighten my day. Never did I know he'd led such a fascinating life, and he is never far from my thoughts as my favorite customer in all my years as a florist. Rest in peace, Axel!
