Obituary of Clarence "Coxie" E. Brown

Clarence "Coxie" E. Brown, age 82 died on February 6, 2017 at his home in Pitman. Coxie lived in Pitman most of his life and attended Pitman High School. He worked for Haines Dairy in Pitman as a milkman for many years. Coxie began working for the Borough of Pitman in 1977 and retired as Superintendent of Public Works in 2005. He was an exempt fireman with Pitman Fire Patrol where he served as Chief and also served as Borough Chief for many years. Coxie started the Pitman Athletic Assn and was a midget football coach for 25 years and a baseball coach. He served as a Trustee for the Tri County Midget Football League. Coxie was also a 32nd Degree Mason with the Pitman Masonic Lodge #197 F&AM, a member of the Shriners and member of the Gloucester County Community Church. Survived by his wife of 63 years Marlene J. (nee Kier), children Janice (Jeff) Tomlin, Thomas (Sandra) Brown, Laura (Dorsey) Brown-Lane, grandchildren Heather, Nicole, Chad, Melissa, Tom, Eric, Derek, Marley, great grandchildren Samantha, Joshua, Sarah, Sofia, Jake, Joey, Chase, Breanna, Ashley and sisters Karen (Richard) Burns, Linda (Eddie) Ott, June (Ted) Allen. He was predeceased by his mother and stepfather Dorothy and John "Roy" Jervis, father Samuel and siblings Sam and Donald Brown, Judy Beebe and John Jervis. Friends may greet the family on Saturday after 9am in the Gloucester County Community Church, 359 Chapel Heights Rd, Sewell, NJ 08080.
