I have only known Gene for the last couple of years. Gene was a member of the 40m SSB team at the Gloucester County ARC Field Day. I worked 40m with him the last 4 years. He seemed to like sitting right next to me all day long as I made contacts. He would then operate during the wee hours of the night. That was his thing, no matter how many times I would ask him during the day. On those weekends, I really got to know him. He was a very intelligent, kind, and funny guy. I don't know him like his family and other members of the club do, however I can say this: He loved his wife and children very much, he loved ham radio, and he loved helping out his fellow man. I feel very blessed that I got to know Gene. I will miss him.

Ginny, We were so saddened to hear of Gene's transition through the veil having taken place already. We know that those on the other side are rejoicing at his coming home to them, while those here are mourning his departure and readjusting to his absence in their lives. We hope and pray that the happy memories of times shared with Gene in laughter will comfort you during the days to come until you claim your righteous place by his side again once more.
Sincerely,
The Van Haitsma's

I enjoyed participating with Gene on the air as part of the weekly nets. I only knew him from the nets but it's a great brotherhood. I extend my condolences to the family.

Gene was the love of my life! I will miss him greatly. He was my protector, my companion, my best friend and my rock! I have no regrets and I know he didn't have any either. We were both firm in knowing that we will see each other again in the eternities. It isn't goodbye, but see you later, Gene. I love you and miss you!
